Froggy Bread Is The New Baking Trend Taking Over TikTok

By now, you know people are baking up a storm while in social isolation—you see it every time you open up your Instagram feed. You’re probably doing it yourself! But if you’re on TikTok, you probably know that people are also taking another very specific cooking project…no not Dalgona coffee…no not pancake cereal…it’s FROG BREAD.

For some reason, everyone is making delightful loaves of bread that look like frogs. Seriously! Videos with the hashtag #froggybread have 1.7 million views on TikTok and are quickly rising.

The inspiration stems from a 2005 recipe on The Fresh Loaf, but for some reason people are suddenly making it en masse and posting it online. It’s even made its way to Twitter this week thanks to a post from @frauglet, and people are replying with photos of their own creations. And I love them all. girl of the dirt@frauglet

I’ve been eying these breads for awhile as they slowly fill up my TikTok algorithm, and there is just something about them that makes me actually laugh out loud. Yeah, we’re all making bread right now and cosplaying as people who have their lives together (it’s called Cottagecore, look it up!!) but there is something about these little guys and their puffy eyes and sometimes misshapen figures that is just so endearing.

Unlike with a lot of other recipes and trends, people are sharing their photos of good, ugly, and just plain strange Froggy Breads. This isn’t your typical beautifully perfect swirl of Dalgona coffee. Froggy Bread is real. You cannot hide any imperfections, there is only froggy. You’re all doing amazing, sweeties.

In case you want to make it for yourself, it seems like this is the bread recipe people are using and here is the 2005 tutorial for getting him into shape. Or you can simply use the hashtag on any social media account and let a delightful person teach you in video form. It’s way more fun that way too.
